Laura Kew
karma arts
Laura Kew has always created art in one form or another… painting, drawing, pottery, fused glass, quilting, stained glass. She worked for many years with young children, encouraging and inspiring their creativity both within a classroom setting and outside of it. She delights in the joy that children find in the simple things, and provided the materials and space to fuel their creative development. She has since trained as an art therapist, and is seeking opportunities to use that knowledge with both children and adults. Laura was a teacher and skilled creator of stained glass art for many years, and found her greatest inspiration in the outdoors of the sunshine coast in BC; the ocean, the trees, the big sky. Coming back to the medium of painting is like a return to her artist roots- only with a twist. Laura is newly inspired to create fluid art paintings, and to embellish them with her very own twist. She rejoices in the alchemy, the inspiration, the colours and the randomness of fluid art; is excited by the complexities of the reaction of paint to mediums, and is mesmerized by the results. She views each canvas and its process as an experience; and learns something new from each one. Life is about art. Living it, and loving every second of the experience of it.
